Malang, January 20, 2025 – The Jakarta Pertamina Enduro (JPE) women’s volleyball team displayed sharp and solid performance, securing two consecutive victories in the ongoing PLN Mobile Proliga 2025 at GOR Ken Arok, Malang.
On Saturday (January 18), JPE defeated Bandung BJB Tandamata with a score of 3-1 (25-22, 14-25, 25-19, 25-21) and continued their winning streak the following day by beating Yogya Falcons with a convincing 3-0 score (25-17, 25-14, 25-17).
"We successfully showcased more consistent play, both in defense and offense. Our focus during training on improving communication and coordination on the court has begun to pay off. I am very proud of how the players executed the strategy, particularly in capitalizing on counterattacks and strengthening the netblocks. We will continue to work hard to maintain this momentum and ensure the team is ready for future challenges," said the coach of JPE, Bulent Karslioglu.
Bulent added that the newly arrived Russian player, Yana Shcherban, significantly boosted the team's morale during both matches.
“Yana has demonstrated a convincing performance on the court. Although some adaptation and adjustment to the Proliga atmosphere are still needed, her precise attacks have made a big difference, especially when we needed momentum,” coach Bulent said.
In addition, Junaida Santi played an indispensable role in both matches. Against Bandung BJB Tandamata, she effectively shut down quick attacks with her precise blocks. Her high block reach allowed her to close off the opponents’ spike routes, especially from open spikers and opposites of BJB. A similar performance happened against Yogya Falcons, where she consistently thwarted their attacks.
Erica Staunton also emerged as the top scorer thanks to her strong contributions in offense. During matches, Erica capitalized on every opportunity with sharp and powerful attacks. She not only excelled in attacking but also controlled the game tempo with quick decisions that kept the opponents under pressure.
"We played with full confidence and supported each other. Every player understood their role, which allowed us to perform at our best in these two matches," said the captain of JPE, Tisya Amallya Putri.
The Chef de Mission of JPE, Werry Prayogi, appreciated the team's performance. "Today, we secured victories and demonstrated the depth of our squad. Young players were willing to step up and contribute on the court, fostering teamwork. Hopefully, the team will grow more solid with evenly distributed skills across all lines, making it to the final four and becoming champions."
