More Than 5,000 Students Learn About Energy Transition Through 12 Pertamina’s Sekolah Energi Berdikari

Jakarta, January 30, 2025 – PT Pertamina (Persero) has educated 5,512 students and 551 teachers across Indonesia through the 12 Pertamina Sekolah Energi Berdikari (SEB/Independent Energy School) programs in its second year. As a result, the SEB Pertamina program has successfully produced up to 57,816 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy and reduced carbon emissions equivalent to 45,840 kg of carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) per year.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that the SEB Program is one of Pertamina's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in schools. It aims to educate middle and high school students about various aspects of energy, including its types, utilization, and how to manage and harness energy wisely.

"SEB Pertamina is our commitment to building the competence of the younger generation who care about energy sustainability and the environment. This also aligns with the Asta Cita program of President Prabowo’s administration, which aims to strengthen Indonesia's human resources, especially in science and technology," said Fadjar.

Fadjar added that in its second year, the SEB Program has been implemented in 12 schools across various regions in Indonesia. Each school has solar panels with a capacity of 3.3 kilowatt peak (kWp) and batteries with a capacity of 5 kWp. One of the latest initiatives is solar panel installation at SLB Negeri Pembina Aceh Tamiang, inaugurated on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The SEB program at SLB Negeri Pembina Aceh Tamiang was implemented by Pertamina through PT Pertamina EP Rantau Field.

Moreover, Pertamina has also implemented the SEB Program at SMKN 1 Mojosongo in Boyolali (Central Java), SMA 1 KP Paseh Ibun in Bandung Regency (West Java), and several other areas. Nine of these schools have received the Adiwiyata School Award from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Principal of SMKN 1 Mojosongo, Agus Margono, expressed gratitude for Pertamina's support through the SEB program. "Currently, SMKN 1 Mojosongo has achieved the status of an Independent Adiwiyata School, which is the highest recognition. We hope that the SEB program we are implementing will further strengthen and maintain this achievement," he said.

Through SEB, students also participate in activities where the Pertamina team conducts awareness sessions on clean energy and environmentally conscious lifestyles, such as tree planting, eco-friendly technology innovations, and energy transition education. In addition to enhancing students' overall competence, 227 students have been selected as Green Warriors, serving as Pertamina ambassadors to promote eco-friendly initiatives in schools.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
